Fiore’s parents wanted her birth announcement to be very personal. Fiore’s mother Esther is a good friend and so she asked me to do the design. I happen to know that Esther is a very good amateur illustrator. To amp up the personal aspect, I suggested she made an illustration and that I’d tailor the rest of the design around it. Esther happily said yes to that!
Esther and I already have some experience combining our styles. Way back, we conspired to make Esther and Toine’s wedding announcement card. It’s always a joy to work with her.
Pink it is
For this announcement, pink was the colour to go. To avoid it being too sweet and girly, I chose a few darker shades and tones of the pink to complement the brighter tints. And lots of white. To give the card a classy look and feel, we chose a fancy stock with a subtle mother-of-pearl glitter.
