After having their daughter Emma, Marleen and Arno really amped up the family business: they were expecting twins! That meant we had to go bigger and bolder for the baby card. We needed to surpass Emma’s card. How do you make a fitting baby card for twins?
The parents were full of ideas again. They wanted to stick to the general style of Emma’s card, but then… more! I decided to add a new dimension. Literally.
Three-dimensional print
The paper has been custom cut in front, so the inside is visible right away. When the card comes out of the envelope while still flat, each of the boys has his name over his head. When you ‘open’ the card, it creates a cubic piece of print that stands on its own. The effect is reinforced by the precise custom cut. This way, a flat card gets a third dimension.
As usual, there is a lot of easter eggs in the design. The toys and rabbit plushies are faithful to reality. The background references the wall painting of the boys’ baby room. Very much featured are both the Dom Tower and the Tivoli/Vredenburg music centre, both landmarks in Utrecht. There should be no doubt about where these twins are from!
There are also some references to the boys’ parents and their hobbies. The characters on the back are a good example. The middle one is obviously older sister Emma. But who are the others? They don’t look like Marleen or Arno. That’s right, because they are their Dungeons and Dragons characters: Gregorius, Priest of Pelor; and Thallia the Arrowminded.
Do you want a baby card for twins with another dimension?
Then let’s collaborate! There are myriads of funny possibilities. Check out some in the other birth announcements in my portfolio. If you have a rough idea of your wishes, or you want to know what’s possible (hint: a lot!), get in touch with me. I’d love to work with you, even if you’re not expecting twins.
